Artemia Gentileschi, friend of Giovanna Garzoni (to whom I dedicated an entire collection), was an Italian painter who lived between 1593 and 1652. Defying the limited options to women, Artemisia was the first woman to become a member of the Accademia di Arte del Disegno in Florence and was widely successful.
A crater on Venus of 20km in diameter was named after her (see last photo for the actual image of this crater).
This porcelain ring dish is around 10cm in diameter. It was formed entirely by hand and glazed with my matte white and lava glaze, both of which I formulated and created.
